On a 2-acre lot in Chester County, Pa., Jerome Lisuzzo endeavors to build a house to Passive House standards, and he’s blogging about it from start to finish.
In an investigation to determine the best product to flash windows to Passive House standards of air-tightness, Lisuzzo put to test PROSOCO’s R-GUARD® FastFlash® system against two competitive products, Tremco’s ExoAir Duo Membrane and Tremco’s Exo Air Trio.
His results favored PROSOCO’s FastFlash® products in a landslide.
While the competitive products were difficult to apply and would cost up to $1800 to cover all the house’s windows, the FastFlash® system (consisting of Joint & Seam Filler, FastFlash® and AirDam) was “bullet-proof,” Lisuzzo wrote in his blog. “It interplays well with the Zip System sheathing, and should serve us well.”
The best part? It only cost an estimated $500 to cover installation of all 19 of the project’s windows.
